The Orchestra project

Date: March 12-14, 2025

The “Saxophone Orchestra” project is addressed to all saxophonists (students, student teachers and amateur musicians) – participants of ESF 2026. As part of the orchestra workshops, Forum participants will have the opportunity to prepare several pieces for the Gala Concert, which will take place on March 14, 2026, under the baton of a professional conductor. year in the Concert Hall of the Academy of Music. Karol Lipiński in Wrocław (AMKL).

On March 12 and 13, orchestra rehearsals and group workshops – sectional rehearsals will be held.

Score materials for the Saxophone Orchestra participants will be made available no later than after the closing of the list of applications, i.e. February 27, 2026.

Revaz Javakhishvili

Graduated from Tbilisi State Conservatoire – Choir Conducting Department, class of Prof. Givi Munjishvili (BA and MA diploma). At the same time he was the assistant choirmaster and also the member of Niko Sulkhanishvili Georgia State Choir. After graduation he was appointed as a Chief Choirmaster of Kutaisi State Opera and Ballet Theatre. Since 2010 he is an Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the same Theatre. As well as Principal Conductor of Kutaisi State Symphony Orchestra. Since 2018 guest conductor of Tbilisi State Conservatoire Students Symphony Orchestra and Opera Studio. Revaz is scholarship owner of Poznan City Hall in Poland, and has passed internship with Poznan Opera Theatre, with Maestro M. Nowakowsky. He participates in the international master classes Assoziazione Spazio Musica in Genova and Milan with the conductors Daniele Agiman and Maurizio Arena. In 2012 Revaz participated in the master classes in Siena, Accademia Musicale Chigiana with Maestro G. Gelmetti. In 2013 as Music Director he conducted Puccini “Madama Butterfly “at “Saarema Opera Days “in Estonia with Kutaisi and Tbilisi Opera Theatres coproduction. As a chief conductor , at the Kutaisi State Opera and Ballet Theatre he had produced – G.Verdi “La Traviata”, “Rigoletto”, P.Mascagni “Cavalleria Rusticana”, R.Leoncavallo “Pagliacci”, G.Puccini “Madama Butterfly”,”Tosca”,G.Donizetti “Lucia di Lamermour” ,”L’Elisir D’Amore”,S.Rachmaninov “Aleko”,Z.Paliashvili “Abesalom and Eteri”, “Daisi”,V.Dolidze “Keto and Kote”,O.Taktakishvili “Mindia”, “First Love” . Since 2013 he works at Georgian National Music Centre as conductor ,where he regularly holds the concerts with Georgian Philharmonic Orchestra. Revaz Javakhishvili cooperates with Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theatre,Tbilisi Symphony orchestra ,Batumi Symphony Orchestra , Georgian State Chamber Orchestra -“Georgian Sinfonietta” and Chamber orchestra “Tel Aviv Soloists”(Israel) . He performs opera and symphonic masterpieces of Georgian, Russian and European composers. Revaz also participated in festivals: “Map the Music”, Tbilisi International Choir Festival. He worked with famous artists, such as Philippe Quint (violin), Gerhard Marschner (viola), Stefan Vladar (piano), Mario Stefano Pietrodarchi (bandoneon), Andrey Baranov (violin), Dimitri Illarionov (guitar), Boris Andrianov (cello), Tamaki Kawakubo (violin), etc.

Conductor of the Aliyat Noar Youth Symphony Orchestra
Graduated in orchestral conducting from the Academy of Arts in Kharkov and from the Gnesin Academy of Music in Moscow, Department of Orchestral Conducting.
Traineeship in orchestral conducting with Prof. M. Ermler.
PhD in pedagogy at the Belgorod State National Research University (confirmed in Israel).
Professional experience:

  • Teacher and orchestra leader at the music school in Lutsk (Ukraine).
  • Senior lecturer, head of department and conductor of the orchestra of the Belgorod College of Music (Russia), head of the Chamber Orchestra of the Belgorod Region Culture Department.
  • Currently, artistic director and conductor of the Aliyat Noar Youth Symphony Orchestra at the Ministry of Education of Israel.
    The orchestra under the direction of L. Arstein has repeatedly given concerts in Germany, Great Britain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Ukraine and Russia.
    Made six recordings with various programmes.
    As an educator, he has trained many talented musicians, teachers and music managers.
    He is currently running various musical projects, both in Israel and abroad.
